CHARITY WORK
At Teesside High School we are very focused on educating pupils in every sense of the word. As well as the more obvious aspects of education, we spend a lot of time teaching our pupils about how to live their lives in a way that is respectful of others. At the most basic level this involves teaching them about manners and being kind to one another. However, we also teach them to think about those who are less fortunate than themselves and to value the material things that they personally own.
EDUCATIONAL VISITS
Educational trips at home or abroad are an integral part of the pupil’s experience at Teesside High and they add depth and relevance to the curriculum. The skills that are developed during overnight, residential and longer stay visits are some of the most important skills for any young person to acquire; team work, compromise, learning to get on with people who you don’t usually spend time with are all vital in the world of work. Add to this the lasting memories and friendships that can start on such trips.
GIFTED & TALENTED
At Teesside High School our provision for the more able is both extensive and intensive. Pupils are encouraged to identify for themselves which specific aspects of learning they feel stretch them in class, and every lesson is also differentiated to offer serious intellectual challenges for our more able students. We track the academic progress of this cohort and find they significantly out-perform expectations. We have a tailor-made action plan for each subject area and age range; from Critical Thinking and Philosophy in the Prep school, to the Linguistics Olympiad in the Senior school. Students are entered for national competitions with great success.
